Lawrence Thomas Jones Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022.
Visitation will be from 08:00 am to 09:00 am Friday, January 14, 2022, with
funeral service to follow at 09:00 am at Pershing Park Baptist Church. Burial
will be at 11:00 am at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Lawrence Thomas Jones Jr., affectionately called “lil buddy” was born January 20, 1942, to Lawrence Thomas Jones Sr. and Orlor Lee Davis Jones in Woodville, Mississippi. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. After serving 20 years in the U.S. Army, he retired as a Sergeant First Class and settled here in Killeen, Texas.
At his present church home, Pershing Park Baptist Church, Lawrence proudly served as the church treasurer, cook, hospitality member, and choir member. His hobbies were simple; sports and more sports. A true “Who Dat Nation” fan. A Saint Gone home!!
Lawrence Thomas Jones Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Orlor Jones. Brothers Luther Jones (aka Mickey), Ora Jones, Cail Jones Sr., Royal Jones Sr., and sisters Louise Burris, Zola Jones, and Thoris Lynn Greene.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn L. Jones Sr. (Michelle) of Kirbyville, TX, and CSM (Retired) Vincent E. Jones Sr. (Vickie) of Leesville, LA. His daughters, Sonji Gail Jones and Valencia Orlene Driker of Killeen, TX. His surviving siblings include Wadel Jones, Dorris Jones, and Gene Jones (Addie) of New Orleans, LA, Lillian McDonald (Bee), Ethel Williams, Lubirder Jones, and Castella Jones-Scott (Blondie)- all of Georgia. Lawrence has 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
